SAN JOSE — Vince Dunn scored 1:58 into overtime and the Seattle Kraken beat the San Jose Sharks 2-1 on Thursday night.Oliver Bjorkstrand had a goal and assist for the Kraken, tying the score with his 15th of the season on a breakaway at 7:03 of the third period.Philipp Grubauer stopped 31 shots, and Dunn extended his point streak to 11 games — especially impressive for a defenseman.“There was a will to him tonight,” Kraken coach Dave Hakstol said about Dunn. “You can see his confidence offensively with the puck. The announcement came after Diaz underwent successful repair of the patellar tendon in his right knee.“To all my beloved fans, especially the Mets fans, I want to let you know that I am doing well and healing,” Diaz posted on his Twitter account. “I feel blessed and grateful for your support with messages and prayers, thank you very much! I can’t wait to see you guys in NY again and play those trumpets.”The 28-year-old also assured his fans on Instagram that he’ll be just fine.“Puerto Rico, I’m good,” he wrote in Spanish.Diaz’s road to recovery will sideline him for the whole 2023 season and force manager Buck Showalter to find a new closer with two weeks left before Opening Day.“We’ve got some good options,” Showalter told reporters Thursday regarding the now vacant closer role.Former Yankee reliever ...Kings destroy Nets on glass: ‘It needs to be a five-guy effort’

If Nerlens Noel wasn’t the answer for Brooklyn’s backup center debacle, the Nets had better find another answer — and soon.Days after the team declined to give Noel a second 10-day contract, the Nets were obliterated on the glass in a 101-96 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Thursday. As versatile as starting center Nic Claxton is on both ends of the floor, his biggest shortcoming — brute strength — continues to be a priority for the Nets to address.Especially if second-year forward Day’Ron Sharpe — who was available but didn’t play against the Kings on Thursday — is out of the rotation. That’s because the bruiser remains the archetype of player that stumps and stampedes the Nets at every turn. What has been true of the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers was true in the Nets’ loss to the league’s No. 1 offense on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day.Just like the Nets have rotational limitations that make them susc...China leader Xi to visit Moscow in show of support for Putin
