ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Minnesota Twins placed second baseman Jorge Polanco on the injured list Saturday.Polanco was put on the 10-day IL retroactive to Thursday because of a strained left hamstring. He is hitting .284 (27 for 95) with four home runs, seven doubles and 14 RBIs in in 23 games.This is the second time this season Polanco is missing time because of a left leg injury. He missed the first 19 games of the season because of inflammation in his left knee.With Polanco unavailable, infielder Edouard Julien was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday. ROME (AP) — Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina won the Italian Open when Ukrainian opponent Anhelina Kalinina retired due to a left thigh injury early in the second set of the rain-delayed final on Saturday.Rybakina was leading 6-4, 1-0, 15-0 when Kalinina called for a trainer and grasped her left leg as she teared up. More rain is in the forecast Saturday night as a slow-moving low pressure system continues to produce showers ahead of a cold front. Scattered showers with occasional downpours will continue through midnight tonight. Some thunder is also possible, especially past midnight as the cold front moves in. NORWELL — Isabel Bresnahan’s main focus at Saturday’s waterlogged South Shore Twilight Invitational was to maintain her form in the 400 hurdles on the slick Norwell High track.The Ayer-Shirley freshman did that and a whole lot more as she blitzed the field with a winning time of 67.38 seconds. Bresnahan not only clinched a gold medal but she was on the extremely short list of athletes who set personal bests in the rain swept meet. Bresnahan’s time bettered her school-record mark and left the young talent with a big smile.“I wasn’t in my head too much about it (school record),” she said. “I’ve never run in the rain before. SAN DIEGO -- A passenger who died in a rollover crash last month on a San Diego freeway has been identified, authorities said.Edgardo Bacani, 84, was announced as the deceased, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office stated on its website.The collision occurred on April 21 near westbound State Route 94 at the southbound Interstate 15 onramp, per California Highway Patrol.
