Minnesota United’s roster doesn’t appear deep enough to withstand another major injury. With Robin Lod and Kervin Arriaga already out with knee injuries, Loons’ leading scorer Bongi Hlongwane appeared to suffer a left leg injury in the first half of Sunday’s match against New York City.Jan Gregus, whom MNUFC traded with Nashville for after Arriaga went down two weeks ago, helped pick up the slack, scoring on a long-range shot in the 53rd minute in a 2-0 win at Citi Field.Substitute striker Mender Garcia provided an insurance goal in the 95th minute. The Colombian had not scored in MLS play since March 25.After a run to the quarterfinals of Leagues Cup, the Loons (8-8-7, 31 points) won their first match in the restarted MLS season. GUATEMALA CITY (AP) — Guatemala progressive presidential candidate Bernardo Arévalo took a commanding lead in preliminary results over former first lady Sandra Torres in an election where frustrated voters demanded change from corrupt politics. With about 70% of ballots counted, Arévalo led with 59% to Torres 36% of the vote. The two candidates offered starkly different paths forward.
