Benefit shows can be slogs. But All for Armenia, a comedy show on Friday, Nov. 3rd at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater, was anything but. It managed to raise money for a vital cause while also being very, very funny. The show was hosted by comedian and master impressionist James Adomian, who along with producers Sam Varela of Naked Comedy, Chris Tcholakian of the Everything Now Show and stand-up Armond Gorjian, put together a stellar lineup of comics and character performers, jammed into two hours. All proceeds for the show went to All for Armenia, a nonprofit that provides humanitarian aid to the estimated 100,000 Armenians displaced from the Nagorno-Karabakh region, also known as Artsakh, after being pushed out by neighboring Azerbaijan. All told, the show raised over $1,700.Adomian kicked off his hosting duties with a short set that included his best-in-the-biz Bernie Sanders impression and musings about his (one-quarter) Armenian-ness.There wasn’t a dud in the program that f...Driver Hospitalized after School Bus Collision on South Jones Boulevard [Las Vegas, NV]

Deportation of immigrants would destroy our economy as many of these people are laborers in jobs others wouldn’t ever want to do. As president, he alienated so many of our allies that his only backers would be Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un. Climate change solutions would be decimated and our future would be in the hands of oil barons. Those in this country who value freedom and the right to vote need to step up and voice their opinions, get involved in the election and ensure we do not have four more...Photos: Biden and Xi meet at Filoli Historic House & Garden

We’ve all tried putting this off for as long as possible, but there’s no escaping the truth: The holiday season is upon us.And while that may herald a sleighful of stress for some, it also means a lot of fun annual activities are back, too. For starters, Downtown Ice is set to open for the season on Friday at 5 p.m. The ice skating rink at the Circle of Palms — between the San Jose Museum of Art and the Signia by Hilton hotel — was replaced by a roller skating rink last year, but the cold stuff is back, continuing a tradition going back to 1994 of letting San Jose residents pretend we have winter in California.Opening night may be a tad soggy because of the rain we’re getting this week, but the weather should be fine for the grand opening ceremonies on Monday evening. Barring severe weather, the rink will be open every day through January 15. SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks winger Fabian Zetterlund was 10 years old when the Detroit Red Wings came to his hometown of Karlstad, about a three-hour drive away from Stockholm, and played an exhibition game against Färjestad BK, a local top-tier team.Zetterlund attended that game and remembers the Red Wings — led at that point by Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom, and fresh off back-to-back appearances in the Stanley Cup Final — badly outshining the hometown heroes in a preseason game.“They just played around with them,” Zetterlund said of the 2009 Red Wings, who won 6-2.Still, the game had an effect on a young Zetterlund, who aspired to play in the NHL one day. Eight years later, Zetterlund was drafted in the third round by the New Jersey Devils, and two years ago, on Nov. 18, 2021, at the age of 22, made his NHL debut.“I just thought it was so cool,” Zetterlund said of the 2009 game. “At that point, I was young and I was asking for sticks and everything.
