DENVER (AP) — Colorado pitcher Ryan Feltner has a skull fracture and concussion after getting hit by a line drive off the bat of Philadelphia’s Nick Castellanos.Feltner was injured Saturday night and was likely to be discharged from Swedish Medical Center later Sunday. He will not need surgery.“Overall, he’s fine,” Colorado manager Bud Black said before Sunday’s game. “I think the feeling is that it could have been worse.”Feltner was put on the 15-day injured list. When asked whether the 26-year-old right-hander will be out for days, weeks or months, Black said “probably on the longer end of that.”Feltner was hurt in the second inning when Castellanos hit a slider 92.7 mph back at the mound. The ball hit Feltner on the back right side of his head, and he fell to the ground. He lay on his stomach as two members of the Rockies athletic training staff aided. He was able to get on his feet and walked off the field with the assistance of the two trainers.Black said Feltner wa...Astros OF Michael Brantley calls injury setback ‘very frustrating’

CHICAGO (AP) — Houston Astros outfielder Michael Brantley is expressing frustration with the setback in his return from surgery on his right shoulder. The five-time All-Star is out indefinitely for the defending World Series champions.“As a competitor, you want to be out there with your team,” Brantley said. “I love these guys. I love this organization. No one is more disappointed than myself. But at the same time, I’ll continue to put in the work, keep my head down and be the best teammate I can and work as hard as I can.”Brantley has yet to play in the majors this season. He appeared to be close to returning, but manager Dusty Baker said Friday that Brantley will be shut down “for a while.” An MRI revealed inflammation in his surgically repaired shoulder.“Very frustrating. You rehab all offseason, put in the work every single day and do everything the right way and sometimes it just doesn’t work out to your favor,” Brantley said. “But at the same time, I won’t stop. BERLIN (AP) — Christopher Nkunku starred as Leipzig took a big step toward Champions League qualification by rallying very late to beat Werder Bremen 2-1 in the Bundesliga on Sunday. The French forward set up both goals — Willi Orban with the equalizer in the 87th minute, then Dominik Szoboszlai with the winner in the sixth minute of injury time – for Leipzig to reclaim third place from Union Berlin and move four points clear of fifth-place Freiburg. Two rounds remain and the top four qualify for the Champions League.Bremen had been hoping to secure its league survival with a win and it looked good for the visitors for much of the game.Leipzig was aggrieved to have Nkunku’s goal in the 66th ruled out through VAR for a push in the back from Mohamed Simakan on Leonardo Bittencourt in the buildup. TV replays showed contact, and Bittencourt tried playing the ball after he fell.Bittencourt further riled the Leipzig fans when he scored four minutes later with a fine finish to Jens Stage’s c...Stray island dog saved by local woman now heading to Colorado

The number of migrants seeking to cross the southern U.S. border has been “markedly down” despite an expected surge following the expiration of pandemic-era border restrictions, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said.Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union, Mayorkas said over the past two days, the U.S. Border Patrol “has experienced a 50% drop in the number of encounters versus what we were experiencing earlier in the week,” before the border limits, known as Title 42, were lifted. While Mayorkas said it was too soon to say whether the surge has peaked, border agents reported about 6,300 encounters on Friday and 4,200 on Saturday. Authorities said early last week the number stood at an all-time high of 10,000 daily. An unprecedented surge of migrants crossing the U.S. southern border over recent months has been a political albatross for President Joe Biden, with Republicans and some fellow Democrats questioning if the White House was prepared to handle the influx.Republican...Turkish news agencies offer different results from election deciding future of incumbent Erdogan

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — A pair of news outlets in Turkey provided different partial results from the country’s presidential election Sunday, with the state-run news agency indicating with three-quarters of ballot boxes counted that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would squeak out a victory but an opposition-leaning agency saying the contest was headed toward a run-off.The state-run Anadolu Agency said Erdogan was leading with 51% of the vote, while Kemal Kilicdaroglu, his main challenger, had garnered 43% after 75% of ballot boxes were tallied. The ANKA news agency said that with ballots from 76% of boxes counted, Erdogan had won 48% compared to Kilicdaroglu’s 46%. If no candidate secures more than 50% of the vote, the top two vote-getters will face a run-off on May 28. Further complicating the picture, the opposition candidate’s party accused Anadolu of manipulating results, insisting that Kilicdaroglu was narrowly leading with 47.42% to Erdogan’s 46.80%.Istanbul May...Latest news
