Uvalde police investigate bomb threat at Robb Elementary UVALDE, Texas (KXAN) -- Uvalde police said Friday they're investigating a bomb threat at the school where a deadly mass shooting happened last year, according to a social media post from the department. According to police, law enforcement agencies are working a "threat to life" after someone called 911 and told them he placed bombs around Robb Elementary School. Police said the person also claimed to be driving around with an assault rifle.Police said the area will be blocked off to all traffic, and the incident is being investigated. Everyone is urged to avoid the area. Last week the community held events to mark one year since a gunman killed 19 students and two teachers at the school. This is a developing story. An average one-bedroom rental in Austin costs $127, while two-bedroom properties charge an average of $203 per night.Only Oxnard, California, and Scottsdale, Arizona, have more expensive rentals. The average daily rate in Scottsdale is $394, while an average rental in Oxnard will set you back $488 per night.Behind Austin, Las Vegas and Honolulu round out the top five.Other cities in California and Arizona feature highly on the list. Report: 56% of state shelters are now no-kill shelters ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- According to the Best Friends Animal Society annual report, 56% of New York animal shelters are now no-kill. The report indicates that only 45% of state shelters were no-kill in 2021. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! “We are at the tipping point of taking the country no-kill,” said Julie Castle, CEO of Best Friends Animal Society. “This critical mass of no-kill shelters shows that it’s possible to save every healthy and treatable pet in a shelter, and it’s sustainable. 93% of shelters in the U.S. that were no-kill in 2021 maintained it the following year.”   The report also indicates that despite the intakes statewide, the number of animals saved also increased. Data shows 76,253 cats and dogs were saved in 2022, compared to 69,220 in 2021. The number of animals killed annually decreased significantly, from 4,293 to 3,508.
