CHICAGO — Police say a man is dead after he was hit by a semi-truck while allegedly attempting to flee from police on the city’s West Side on Tuesday afternoon.According to police, officers were observing a stolen vehicle that was parked outside of a business in the 800 block of South Cicero Avenue around 2:30 p.m. when a 24-year-old man exited the vehicle.Police attempted to perform an investigatory stop, but the man allegedly fled on foot. Calls for NAACP Illinois conference president to resign after racist remarks Police say the man only made it a short distance before he was struck by a semi-truck. He later died at the hospital. WINFIELD, Mo. (KTVI) – An 18-year-old high school senior was shot and killed in a tragic duck hunting incident in Missouri over the weekend, according to authorities. Investigators said Trent Busch died from a gunshot wound while duck hunting at the Ted Shanks Conservation Area in Pike County, about 100 miles north of St. Louis, on Sunday. Preliminary findings indicate the shooting was an accident with no malicious intent. A Missouri Department of Conservation official said Busch was with a group of friends but added that it’s too soon to release specifics about what happened. He said that even though the shooting appears to be a tragic accident, the investigation is continuing. The Pike County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Missouri Department of Conservation in the investigation. AUSTIN (KXAN) – The Austin Office of Sustainability announced it has selected 33 young leaders as part of Austin's Youth Climate Equity Council, an initiative to give young people a “seat at the table” when exploring ways to address climate change in Austin. With its deadline at the end of the month, a panel tasked with finding new symbols for Minnesota has honed in on three flag designs and finalized a design for a new state seal.The State Emblems Redesign Commission on Tuesday chose three final concepts from the more than 2,000 design submissions it received from the public in October. LOS ANGELES — Andre Braugher, the Emmy-winning actor best known for his roles on the series “Homicide: Life on The Street” and “Brooklyn 99,” died Monday at age 61.Braugher’s publicist Jennifer Allen told The Associated Press the actor died after a short illness.The Chicago-born actor had his breakthrough role in 1989’s “Glory,” starring alongside Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington, who won an Oscar for the film about an all-Black army regiment during the the Civil War.Despite the part, he told The Associated Press in 2019 that he struggled to find work in a Hollywood where roles for African American actors were “few and far between.
