CHICAGO — Chicago has a new plan in the migrant crisis. In a news conference announcement following the passage of his first budget, Mayor Brandon Johnson unveiled some changes for the new arrivals Wednesday."Above all, we are treating our new neighbors with compassion because it is the humane thing to do," Johnson said. "Because with support they can become productive members of our communities, contributing to our economy, our culture and our society."The first bus carrying migrants arrived in Chicago on Aug. 31, 2022. WASHINGTON (AP) — Ending the threat of a government shutdown until after the holidays, Congress gave final approval Wednesday night to a temporary government funding package that pushes a confrontation over the federal budget into the new year.The Senate met into the night to pass the bill with an overwhelming 87-11 tally and send it to President Joe Biden for his signature one day after it passed the House on an overwhelming bipartisan vote. Prior sex offender caught taking 'up-skirt' video in Halloween store

A 60-year-old man, who is a prior sex offender, was arrested after witnesses in a Halloween store reported seeing him use his phone to record “up-skirt” video of a woman who was in the shop with her two children, authorities announced Wednesday night.  The incident occurred on Oct. 20 at Spirit Halloween, located at 13852 Red Hill Avenue, in Tustin.  Officers with the Tustin Police Department responded to the scene and learned that the suspect, now identified as Roland Moreno, had been seen by multiple people in the store “discreetly taking up-skirt videos” of the female victim.  Moreno fled Halloween Spirit in his vehicle before officers arrived. However, his phone was recovered at the scene. Roland Moreno, 60, was arrested on charges of criminal invasion of privacy on Nov. 12, 2023.
