WASHINGTON (AP) — A longtime aide to President Joe Biden and current top adviser to the vice president is Biden’s choice to represent the United States at the United Nations agency devoted to education, science and culture. NEW YORK (AP) — The annual West Indian American Day Parade stepped off in New York City on Monday with brightly colored costumes, steel bands, flag waving and street dancing.The Brooklyn parade is the culmination of carnival week and one of the world’s largest celebrations of Caribbean culture. CHICAGO — Police are looking for information after a man attempted to lure three kids into his car in Bridgeport. Chicago police say it happened just after 8 a.m. on Sunday in the 3100 block of South Halsted Street.  Woman beaten during Harwood Heights carjacking dies According to officers, three kids were playing on the sidewalk in the area when a man, who was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle, approached the children and asked if he could use their cellphone.
